Police attack on Ebtedayi teachers in the capital; Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan protests

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan issued a statement on January 26 condemning and protesting the police attack on Ebtedayi teachers when they were going to submit a memorandum to the Chief Advisor's office demanding job nationalization.

In the statement, he said, "On January 26, around noon, when Ebtedayi teachers were going to submit a memorandum from the Press Club to the Chief Advisor's office, the police stopped them. At one point, the police fired water cannons at the Ebtedayi teachers and charged batons against them. Six people, including a woman, were injured in this incident. This attack on Ebtedayi teachers is unexpected, and sad. We condemn and protest this incident.

In the statement, he also said that for the past 40 years, MPO and Non-MPO madrasa teachers have been living an inhumane life without salary. It seems that no one is there to see their inhumane plight.

We call on the government to discuss with the Ebtedayi teachers and find a fair and rational solution to all the problems of the Ebtedayi teachers from a humane perspective.”
