Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan issued the following statement on 29th December, 2024 protesting the comment made by BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on December 29 in which he stated that, "Jamaat wants to forgive Hasina to improve relations with India,"

"The statement made by BNP leader Mr. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi about Jamaat-e-Islami that 'Jamaat wants to forgive Hasina to improve relations with India' is misleading, baseless and politically motivated.

Mr. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi pointed to Jamaat-e-Islami and said, "After August 5, the people have seen the usurpation of a political party, the people know who cut the veins of the people’s feet, the Jamaat, which opposed 1971, is trying to fish in murky waters;" such statements by Mr. Rizvi is a continuation of propaganda that had been carried out for the past few decades. The people have outrightly rejected such ill-campaign long time ago. It is not clear to the people what Mr. Rizvi wants to achieve by uttering these misleading words against Jamaat-e-Islami. Jamaat has never done such alleged trend of wrong politics. His statement pointing to Jamaat, "It does politics with Islam, Islam does not mean repeatedly committing hypocrisy" is nothing but an extreme lie. Jamaat does not do politics with 'Islam'. Jamaat does politics on the basis of Islamic ideology. Jamaat has never committed hypocrisy. Jamaat has fought uncompromisingly for the rights of the people of the country, and also for restoring rule of law, justice, human rights and people's right to cast vote. Mr. Rizvi must be aware that the unity that was formed in 2018 by avoiding a functional alliance only for coming to the power is a severe hypocrisy. The people have not forgotten the history of such political decline.

The people are surprised by the statement he made that ‘Jamaat wants to forgive Sheikh Hasina’ to improve relations with India. Before raising allegations against Jamaat regarding improving relations with India, Mr. Rizvi should do some self-evaluation. The people know very well who has tried to establish friendship with India by visiting India repeatedly.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s politics are against Indian hegemony and fascism. The entire nation has accepted this pro-nation role of Jamaat-e-Islami. And this is probably why Mr. Rizvi has become angry. "We call on all concerned to refrain from continuing such misleading and slanderous politics.
