Demand for objective and impartial investigation

Secretary General expresses deep concern over the fire incident in the Secretariat

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on December 26 expressing deep concern over the huge damage and destruction caused to several important ministries due to the terrible fire in Building No. 7 of the Bangladesh Secretariat.

In the statement, he said, “I express deep concern over the huge damage and destruction caused to several important ministries due to the terrible fire in Building No. 7 of the Bangladesh Secretariat. The Bangladesh Secretariat is the heart of all administrations in the country. We do not understand how a terrible fire can occur there despite the overall security arrangements around the day. It is necessary to investigate whether such a terrible fire incident in the Secretariat is a sabotage or not. The countrymen believe that conspirators have deliberately set fire to the center of the administration with the aim of destroying peace and order of the country. It is necessary to investigate whether there is any indifference and carelessness on the part of any of the department of the government.

We believe that it is necessary to unravel the mystery of the fire incident through an objective and impartial investigation and take strict legal action against those responsible. At the same time, the interim government needs to be more aware and careful in fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to it by the people.
