Secretary-General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 25th November, 2024 expressing deep concern over the student clash that took place on November 24th and 25th in Dhaka, which led to the injury of nearly a hundred students and teachers and the vandalism of educational institutions.
"The clashes among students of Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College, Kabi Nazrul College, and Shaheed Suhrawardy College on November 24th and 25th, resulting in the injury of nearly a hundred students and teachers and the vandalism of educational institutions, are extremely painful, undesirable, and unexpected events.
'We express deep concern over these tragic incidents. After the country was freed from the fascist rule, such events in educational institutions are completely unexpected. Political observers believe that the student clashes are part of a deep conspiracy being carried out by the fallen fascist forces.'
To avoid such unfortunate incidents, I call on everyone to play a restrained and responsible role. I urge the government to conduct an impartial investigation to reveal the true causes of the student clashes and also to restore a peaceful educational environment in the institutions.
I express my deep sympathy to the injured and wish them a speedy recovery. At the same time, I call on the government to make proper arrangements to ensure their better treatment."
