Allegation of obstructing Jail Killing Day programs

Matiur Rahman Akanda condemns spreading of false information against Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Publicity and Media Secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda issued a statement on November 3 strongly condemning and protesting the spreading of false information which accused Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir of preventing Awami League from observing Jail Killing Day on November 3.

In the statement, he said, 'False information has been spread against Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir on the verified Facebook page of Awami League, which accused Jamaat and Shibir activists of preventing Awami League from observing the Jail Killing Day on November 3, which is completely false. There is no question of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir of creating such obstruction. Our clear statement in this regard is that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic and peaceful political party and it believes in democracy. Jamaat-e-Islami does not interfere with the programs of other political parties. Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir have nothing to do with any such dirty politics.

In another part of the published post, it is said that, 'Awami League is called fascist by the illegal government and its allies - who are the fascists?' Responding to their question, we want to assert that a violent mass movement led to the downfall of fascist forces. Mass people of Bangladesh have taken a stand against fascism. They will not be able to deny such a tag of fascism by raising this question simply.

Given the comment that 'the people will judge it', we would like to say that the people have declared a referendum on August 5, by taking an overwhelming stand against fascism. People are voicing daily demanding justice for genocide.

I appeal to the fascist Awami League and other concerned affiliates to Awami League to be refrained from spreading such false information.”
