Jamaat Ameer issues a message on the Occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025

In a message delivered today, 3 December, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said: “Today, 3 December, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. On this day, I extend my sincere greetings, sympathy, and unwavering solidarity to all citizens with disabilities in the country, as well as their families, caregivers, teachers, rehabilitation workers, and everyone concerned.”

He further said, “Persons with disabilities are in no way a burden on society. They possess Allah-gifted diverse abilities, purity of heart, and immense potential. I firmly believe that—if provided with proper opportunities, a supportive environment, and state protection—they too can play an important role in the development, progress, and welfare of society. Ensuring their rights is a humanitarian responsibility, a moral duty, and an inseparable element of a justice-oriented state system.”

The Jamaat Ameer emphasized that it is the responsibility of the state to guarantee all fundamental human rights of persons with disabilities, including their education, healthcare, mobility, employment, rehabilitation, security, and dignity. Inclusive education, accessible infrastructure, assistive technology, skills development, and family-based support systems must be further strengthened. The government must take effective measures to reduce the mental, social, and financial pressures on families, and at the citizens’ level, it is essential to expand sensitivity, respect, and a cooperative attitude to build a humane society.

“I believe that through a coordinated plan, sincere initiatives, and a justice-based state role, Bangladesh can set an exemplary standard to the world as a disability-friendly nation.

Let us all work together to build an honourable, safe, and promising future for persons with disabilities—illuminated by love, justice, and humanity.”
