After the oath-taking ceremony, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “The members of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have elected me as the Ameer-e-Jamaat and entrusted me with a responsibility for which I am not worthy at all. I am just like all of you. We collectively run this organization. By the mercy of Allah and with the cooperation of my brothers, I have been carrying out my responsibilities. Despite many faults and shortcomings, we are performing our duties. I seek forgiveness from Allah for these shortcomings. May Almighty Allah forgive us. If you see any mistake in me, you should criticize me and correct me. May Allah grant me the ability to accept your criticism and correction.

I extend heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to all the national leaders who have honored our invitation and attended this oath-taking ceremony. We who are engaged in politics together may have differences in our thoughts and views. We will try to remove those differences through discussions and dialogue. Let us set aside all grievances and work together in the national interest. Even after 54 years of independence, the nation has not truly tasted freedom. The reason is corruption and misgovernance. To free the nation from corruption and misgovernance, everyone must work unitedly. For this, we must seek forgiveness from Allah for our own mistakes. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon Him) would seek forgiveness seventy to one hundred times a day. I also seek forgiveness repeatedly from Allah, though some people do not like it. But I will continue to seek forgiveness.

He further said, During the last fifteen and a half years, many of our brothers have been killed, injured, imprisoned, and subjected to torture and repression. Prison used to be our first residence. Because we protested injustice, the government repeatedly imprisoned us. We lost eleven top leaders including the then Ameer, Nayeb-e-Ameer, Secretary General, and Assistant Secretary Generals of Jamaat. Many were injured and crippled and are still living as living martyrs. May Allah reward us with due recompense.

He said, May Allah accept as martyrs and grant the highest ranks in Jannah all those who were martyred in the independence movement of 1947, the language movement of 52, the liberation war of 71, the mass movement of 90, and in the last fifteen and a half years. I respectfully recall the contribution of the youth who led and played pivotal roles in the July Revolution of 2024. I hope that in the future as well, they will rise above all narrowness and play their role in the interest of the country.

He said, May Allah grant the ability for the national parliamentary election scheduled to be held in the coming month of February to be conducted freely, fairly, and neutrally.

He further said, In the past, our expatriate brothers were deprived of their voting rights. This time, the process has begun to register them as voters. I call upon the Election Commission to take necessary measures so they can become voters and cast their votes in the upcoming election.

He said, I call upon the national leaders to come forward to play a united role so that we may work collectively in the national interest, take the nation forward, and ensure all rights of the people as enshrined in the Constitution.”
