Prof. Tasneem Alam, Central Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has issued the following statement today (03-03-09) against the mispropaganda conducted for creating confusion against Jamaat-e-Islami by an Indian newspaper The Telegraph.
He has strongly condemned and protested against the published report of the newspaper the Telegraph of India in the headline ‘Wary of Coup, India Moves Paras”.
“I strongly condemn and protest against the false report published in the Indian newspaper, The Telegraph on 2nd March, 2009 under the headline ‘Wary of Coup, India Moves Paras’. In the published report mentioned as “Some of them were arrested and interrogation revealed that the Jamaat-e-Islami was courting these rebels. The source said investigating agencies suspected the hand of Jamaat operative Motiur Rahman Nizami whose objective is to topple the Sheikh Hasina government.” There is not even a bit of true written in the report against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its Ameer Maulana Motiur Rahman Nizami. These words were written with an ill-motive only to misguide the people by conducting mispropaganda. I want to say very clearly that the report was false, baseless and politically motivated.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a democratic party which believes in constitutional democratic system. So there is no question to have a hand of the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Motiur Rahman Nizami behind this bloody incident at the BDR Headquarter.
I call upon the authority of the Telegraph to restrain from creating confusion by mispropagation against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and hope that they will remove the created confusion by publishing this protest in the proper place.”
