In their statement they vehemently condemned the arrest of the two leaders. Appearing in the court the leaders appealed for bail. The court set July 14 as the date of hearing. The court directed the government not to arrest or harass them until any further order. Ignoring the high court order, the police arrested them in false cases. Even the police showed indecent attitude toward Muhammad Kamaruzzaman while arresting him.
It is once again proved that Awami League government does not believe in the rule of law. Democracy cannot sustain while there is no rule of law and freedom of expression. The government is persistently denying the right to stage demonstration and organize rally. The country has been virtually turned into a prison by the brazen denial of justice and rule of law.
The attitude of the government reveals that it is undertaking a deep conspiracy to annihilate Jamaat-e-Islami. As such the government is continuing to persecute Jamaat leaders indiscriminately to implement their blueprint.
We, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami are calling the people of Bangladesh to raise their voice against the violence and oppression of the government. We also strongly demand immediate release of the three top party leaders together with Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Molla.
