Wednesday, 20th March, 2013
“A certain quarter of the Government backed by a section of the press has been campaigning against Jamaat-e-Islami alleging that the party has been involved in the recent attack on minorities. This is a political vendetta and is wholly untrue. Jamaat-e-Islami denies any involvement whatsoever in the attacks. Jamaat-e-Islami has in the past condemned all such attacks and it continues to condemn these heinous deeds.
Jamaat-e-Islami calls for immediate appointment of an independent judicial commission to probe into the attacks. Jamaat will co-operate with such a commission sincerely to reveal the truth as well as in the rehabilitation of the victims. Jamaat-e-Islami will also co-operate with the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators of the attacks to justice.
If in an independent and impartial investigation finds any member of Jamaat to be associated with the attacks, Jamaat-e-Islami would undertake measures to provide full and immediate compensation to the victims.”
