Jamaat-e-Islami publicity affairs Secretary Prof Md Tasneem Alam has strongly protested and condemned a baseless news item titled ‘Threat to diplomats under Jamaat fuel’ published in the Daily Bangladesh Protidin on July 4 implicating the party.
In a statement on Wednesday, he said that the news that blames Jamaat stating the party leaders instigated ANM Abdur Rashid to threaten three Saudi diplomats including its Ambassador to Dhaka, is totally fabricated and baseless. There is no atom of truth in the news report, he added.
Prof Alam said that Jamaat-e-Islami always maintains brotherhood relation especially with the Muslim countries and the party has been strongly maintaining such relationship with Saudi Arabia.
The Jamaat leader has denied involvement of Jamaat with such threats to foreign diplomats and added that the news was published aimed at tarnishing image of the largest Islamic political party and to breaks up its existing relationship with that country.
He said that Jamaat never believes in the politics of terrorism, rather the party practices peaceful democracy.
Prof Tasneem demanded proper investigation of the threatening incident and exemplary punishment of the culprits.
The Jamaat leader also urged the news paper authorities not to publish such baseless news item that creates ambiguity and confusion among the people.
He hoped the concerned authorities will publish the rejoinder at the right place in the newspaper to make clear the issue to the readers.
