The acting Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-E-Islami Mr. Makbul Ahmad has issued a statement today on 12 February condemning the shooting at the residence of veteran leader Moulana Abdus Sobhan. Moulana Abdus Sobhan is the Nayeb E Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-E-Islami and a former member of parliament. The following is the statement:
“I condemn the cowardly attack on Moulana Abdus Sobhan’s residence. Yesterday 11 February at early hours of the morning armed terrorists attacked and shot at the Pathartala, Pabna residence of Moulana Sobhan. The government arrested Moulana Sobhan without any just reason and keeping him in prison. The attack last night left every member of his family shocked, terrorized, and traumatized. They are feeling very vulnerable and insecure. If this family suffers any loss from terrorist attacks the government must bear the responsibility for it.
I urge the government to arrest the attackers immediately and provide adequate security for Moulana Abdus Sobhan’s family members.”
