Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Acting Ameer Makbul Ahmad has strongly protested and condemned implicating BNP Acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in new false cases and keeping him detained even after he obtained bail from the High Court in those cases, under which he was earlier arrested.
In a statement on January 3, the Jamaat chief alleged against the government of torturing the opposition leaders and activists, and even ignoring the HC’s order.
In an ill-intention to curb the opposition’s anti-government movement, the AL-led government one after one arrested Mirza Fakhrul, Jamaat leaders including its Acting Secretary General Dr Shafiqul Rahman.
He categorically said that the people’s movement cannot be stopped by torture, attack, repression and false cases. No government in the past could sustain, the incumbent also will face the same fate, he warned.
So, he urged the government not to delay in restoring the non-party caretaker government system in the constitution, stopping the so called war crimes trial and cancel the tribunal, immediately release all opposition leaders and activists including BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat Acting Secretary General Dr Shafiqur Rahman.
