Tasneem Alam, Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Publicity Department, has given the following statement severely condemning and protesting the comment by the Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhit in the Engineers’ Institute Auditorium on 19 June 2009 in “Tipaimukh Dam Conference - 2009” that the opposition’s movement against the Tipaimukh dam is to gain political interest.

An urgent meeting of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held today at 4:00 PM on 13 June, 2009 at the central office of the party. Presided over by the Ameer of the party and former minister Maulana Motiur Rahman Nizami, the meeting analyzed and discussed the recently declared budget 2009-10 and put forward the following observations and suggestions.
